Upgraded anti-terrorism courts soon
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

Islamabad, December 6: The military regime today announced that the anti-terrorism courts under the amended anti-terrorist act to try deposed Pakistani premier Sharif would be set up in couple of days, while dismissing criticism on the amendment.

Judges under the anti-terrorist act ``shall be appointed in consultation with the chief justices of the concerned high courts'', Law Minister Aziz Munshi said during informal talks with journalists in the supreme court.

``The new amendment ensures more transparency, balance and independence", Munshi said.

He rejected criticism on the amendment to the anti-terrorist act saying, ``this is a wrong impression that change in the act was made keeping in view a certain case or cases".

Munshi said the allegations against the amended act was being made without reading it.
