Wanted: Sales Agents

Durazi magic

The Longines-Shahab Durazi show has to be the fashion event of the season as everyone wanted to be there, what with everyone pestering the organisers for passes. After all, Shahab is known to be the master of elegance. At the Oberoi's Regal Room finally, there just weren't enough seats for everyone.

Seen were industrialists like Anil Ambani and Simone Tata, media personality Simi Garewal and designers Wendell Roderiks and Pallavi Jaikishan. As expected, the clothes were graceful and stylish, with Shahab using a lot of colour this year there was one full scene of just red dresses. But what received a round of applause were his saris which he showed for the first time. As usual, the designer's attention to detail was flawless, with each outfit accessorised with matching handbags and shoes. But one has to admit that his cuts are fairly predictable.

At this show though, Shahab stuck to empire line dresses and tailored jackets that he is so well known for. For men he had some really elegant looking suits, with the only fault being the shoulders that did not seem to sit well on his models.

With Longines being the sponsor, the show-stopper was worn by Miss World '94, Aishwarya Rai, whose grace and poise on the ramp matched the collection perfectly. All said and done, it was an evening of elegance, with everyone ending the night with champagne and canapes.
