Ban on onion export liftedNEW DELHI: The Government has allowed export of onion upto one lakh tonnes in view of its bumper crop this year, Rajya Sabha was informed today. ``We will review the situation and allow further exports of onion if there is any need,'' Minister of State for Commerce Omar Farooq Abdullah told the Rajya Sabha.

NEW DELHI: THE Delhi High Court said today the National Telecom Policy (NTP) 1999 must be fully implemented as the new Cabinet has already approved it. A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice S N Variava and Justice S K Mahajan also took note of the President's address to the nation which had reference to empowering the regulator for pushing ahead with telecom reforms.
Biswal sworn in
BHUBANESWAR: Hemananda Biswal was sworn in Orissa's 16th Chief Minister here today. Two other members of the outgoing ministry, Basanta Kumar Biswal and Jagannath Patnaik, also took oath along with him as cabinet ministers.Governor M M Rajendran administered the oath of office and secrecy to Biswal and the two other ministers at a simple function on the Raj Bhavan lawns.
Tourists killed
AURANGABAD: UNIDENTIFIED criminals shot dead two tourists at Sinduria village in Aurangabad district. Police said here today that the anti-social elements attacked the tourists when they were taking meal at a roadside motel yesterday. The deceased were members of a tourist party, which was on its way to Maharashtra from West Bengal.
