JAIPUR, DEC 6: India No 1 Leander Paes crushed Kamlesh Shukla (India) 6-1, 6-2 in the ATP Tour Challenger Tennis Championship at the Jai Club courts here on Monday.

Paes broke Shukla in the first, third and seventh games of the first set and in the fourth and eight games of the second set.

Seventh seed Satoshi Iwabuchi (Japan) and eight seed Barry Cowan (Great Britain) also entered the seond round defeating Vladimir Platenik (Slovakia) 6-2, 6-1 and India's Prahlad Srinath 6-3, 6-3.

Iwabuchi will now meet the winner of Kritian Pless (Denmark) and Karlovic (Croatia) while Cowan will clash with Yuri Schukin (Russia), who trounced Heiko Bollich (Germany) 6-4, 6-4 today.

In an all-Indian affair, wild card Vishal Uppal beat qualifier Manoj Mahadevan 6-4, 6-4.

India's Nitin Kirtane went down fighting to Ivan Vajda (Croatia) 5-7, 2-6.

Qualifier Vijay Kannan made his exit in similar fashion as he lost to Luke Milligan (Great Britain) 5-7, 1-6.
