AHMEDABAD, DEC 6: The story reversed for Gujarat in their third match with the medium pacers catching Mumbai in a stranglehold to send them reeling at 6 for 3 and 38 for 4, but the spinners letting them off the hook as they compiled a respectable 216 for 8 by stumps on the first day of the West Zone Vijay Merchant Trophy leagues at the Sardar Patel Gujarat Stadium, Motera, here on Monday.

Sangram Bagul (76: 193b, 269m, 5x4) and Soham Dalvi (69: 151b, 189m, 10x4) set about the task of saving Mumbai's sinking ship. The two batsmen batted with great patience and responsibility to weave together a stand of 133 runs for the fifth wicket, dominating the middle session.
