England captain Nasser Hussain struck the first century by an English batsman in representative matches this year as the tourists reached 401 for eight in reply to Kwazulu/ Natal's first innings total of 310.England's reply was halted when bad light stopped play on the third day of the four-day fixture with all-rounder Andrew Flintoff batting on 74 and paceman Alex Tudor on 40 after a ninth wicket stand of 85.

SCG resurfacing
CANBERRA:
The entire soilof the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) will be removed and put on sale as the Australian government plans a complete resurfacing of the turf to commemorate the centenary of the federation test between Australia and West Indies.

The resurfacing will be taken up between Aug-Nov next year, in time for the 2000-1 international cricket season. Plans are afoot to sell the soil in commemorative transparent containers.
