NAGPUR, DEC 8: Chief Miniter Vilasrao Deshmukh announced here Wednesday night that the Mumbai-Aurangabad Expressway would be extended to Nagpur adding Rs 150 crore would be allocated for the purpose.Replying to a felicitation here, Deshmukh said the highway project would cost Rs 500 crore and added the remaining Rs 350 crore would be recovered through toll taxes.
The existing runway at the city airport would be further extended by 400 m to meet international standards and the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) had been asked to draw up the plan accordingly, he said.
While announcing a number of packages, the Chief Minister said the special development grant to Nagpur would be hiked from Rs 20 to Rs 25 crore.
Earlier, Deshmukh attended a meeting of public health officials and appealed to elected representatives in the State to undertake an AIDS awareness campaign.
