Banned militants outfits gets show-cause notice
UNITED NEWS OF INDIA

AGARTALA, DECEMBER 8: The Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal has served show cause notices to Tripura's two banned outfits -- All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) and National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT).

An official release said here on Wednesday that the tribunal, headed by Justice R K Trivedy, judge of Allahabad High Court, was constituted to verify the justification of banning the outfits.

The tribunal in its show cause notices has asked ATTF and NLFT to clarify why the outfits and their leaders should not be banned and the Government of India's earlier notifications banning the outfits not approved.

The tribunal also asked them to give their replies within 30 days after publication of the show cause notices.

On Tuesday the banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) guerillas shot dead Durlav Debbarma, senior CPI(M) leader, at Killa in South Tripura.

Police said here today that NLFT rebels abducted debbarma from Muitulung Bari and shot him dead in a nearby jungle.

BorderSecurity Force (BSF) jawans recovered the body during a combing operation.
