PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

MARGAO, DEC 12: Goa's league champions Churchill Brothers opened their league engagement on a bright note when they scored an emphatic 5-0 win over depleted Dempo in the 4th National Football League at Nehru Stadium here today.

Churchill Bros who led 1-0 at half time, scored through Francis Silveira in the 25th minute.

The first goal was a self goal. Francis Silveira, who was at his best, cut-passed defender Sameer Naik on the right and send a goal-bound shot. Defender Teotonio Fernandes in a haste to clear the ball to safety, shot the ball into in their own goal.

After the change of ends, Churchill scored the second in the 50th minute when Francis lobbed the ball over the keeper Mansingh from the top of the box on the left. Ten minutes later Francis again found the net through a pass from Rocky Baretto which came to him from Mario Soares.
