Western Intervention... Dear Sir, This is in reference to your story on US report needles Delhi over decline in religious tolerance, by Chidanand Rajghatta, on Sep 9. It's yet another attempt for the Western world to portray a negative picture of other countries, especially those who are independent. This is also a self assuring tactic used to assure their own people that they live in the 'better' countries. It's quite common practice in 'some' countries wherein when an issue is raised in their country, the government would reassure their people with twisted & tweaked stories from other countries, so that people feel that they are better than the other guy. When the air pollution was becoming an issue in Toronto, a few snippets of roads of Delhi & Bangkok were aired. Not so long ago even Time magazine carried a made-up story, with a photograph, of 'rampant' child prostitution in Romania. A minute long shot of a water clogged street of Dakha gets a slot in the prime time TV news but not the efforts of the Bangladeshi government to stop animal poaching. Everyday I see, in sponsored programs on TV in Toronto, where money is being collected for the spread of Christianity in Indian Tribal areas. If we are to believe the 'secular' people of India that there is no conversion going on, then where is all that money going to? It's time that the people, at least of the Indian sub-continent, realize as to what is going on in the so called developed countries also. The British animal group managed to put an end to the black bear dancing in India, while the hunting of black bears goes on in Canada. May be an Indian government department can also prepare a report of violence in schools, poverty, and the homeless problem of so called developed countries, and submit it to it's parliament.
