Press Council rap for 3 newspapers

NEW DELHI, DEC 18: The Press Council has reprimanded three newspapers of Madhya Pradesh for publishing unlawful satta/lottery numbers and directed them to decline such `unethical advertisements'.

The council, at its recent meeting under chairmanship of P B Sawant, observed that the publication of numbers of lotteries or gambling were not only unethical but also illegal as they tend to promote unlawful activities, a release by the Council here today said.

Swantantra Mat, Dainik Alok and Vindhya Sandesh have been directed to publish the gist of the Council's decision while no action was taken against Dainik Bhaskar which has given an assurance that it would not accept such advertisements and had stopped publication of lottery numbers.
