Panoon Kashmir warns Govt against hijackers' demands
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

MUMBAI, DECEMBER 25: Panoon Kashmir, an organisation representing Kashmiri Pandits, has warned the Government of India against succumbing to the demands made by hijackers of the Indian Airlines plane. It said if the Centre gives in to their demands it will take to the streets.

The hijackers, according to reports, belong to the Islamic Salvation Front and have claimed responsibility for hijacking the airbus. They have demanded the immediate release of its activists viz, Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar and Jilani.

"The militants did the same thing 11 years ago when they abducted Mufti Mohemmed Sayeed's daughter, Rubiya Sayeed. That was a test case. They wanted to see how the Government reacts and they won hands down. Five dreaded militants, who were area commanders, were released at that time and the Kashmiri Pandits have had to bear the brunt of the Government's failure for all these years," said Pandit.
