MUMBAI, DECEMBER 25: The Royal Western India Turf Club committee will meet tomorrow to consider the resignation of Ravi Ghai, chairman of the stewards. It is understood that Ghai is under pressure from Club members, professionals and those directly connected with the sport to withdraw his resignation for the larger interest of the racing industry and particularly RWITC, which is passing through severe crisis.

It may be recalled that the racing schedule last Thursday was possible only because of his efforts.
CLUB COMMISSION INCREASED: The RWITC authorities have unilaterally enhanced their Club commission with the bookmakers to 16 per cent (from 11 per cent). The commission, which used to be six per cent, has increased by 10 per cent. It is worth noting that the government had lowered betting tax by 10 per cent and Gopinath Munde, the then deputy chief minister and home minister of Maharashtra, had urged the RWITC to reduce its commission, but the club refused to budge.
