Gangster burnt alive by former accomplice
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

NAGPUR, DECEMBER 28: A gangster was brutally beaten and then burnt alive by his former partner at LIG Colony in Vaishali Nagar on Monday morning, following a quarrel over money matters.

The victim, Aziz Bhurya, died on the spot of severe burns, police said, adding that the prime suspect, Rajesh Ishwar Bhoyar alias Raja, has been taken into custody for murder. Raja was reportedly aided by his father and two other associates in the assault.

On previous occasions, two gangsters -- Gaffar Don and Ranjit Dahat -- were burnt to death by irate mob under the same police jurisdiction.

The incident stemmed from the soured relationship between Aziz and Raja, who were once close friends and partners in several pickpocketings. Differences arose between them over the sharing of a stolen booty and two had since parted ways.

Around 7 am today, Aziz approached Raja at the latter's house in Vaishali Nagar and asked him for some money. He also offered to revive their friendship, but the latter ignored him. This led to aheated verbal exchange between the duo.

When Raja's father tried to intervene, Aziz pushed him aside. Enraged over this, Raja took Aziz out of the house and soon launched a brutal assault on him with a stick. His father and two others joined him in the attack, police sources said.

Aziz sustained grievous wounds to his head, eyes and lower limbs as he fell unconscious on the spot. Soon, Raja and his aides doused him with kerosene and set him ablaze in full public view.

Later, Raja approached the police and narrated the incident, following which he was taken into custody. A police staff visited the scene of crime and soon a bandobust was clamped in the area to avoid any incident. The body has been sent for post mortem.

Aziz's wife, Sunanda, has lodged a complaint in this connection and PSI Doifode of the Pachpaoli police is investigating.
