RANCHI, Dec 27: The Bihar Police Men's Association (BPMA) has charged the state government with slackness in dealing with extremists and alleged that due to its omission and commission, the policemen are being killed in Bihar.Launching a blistering attack against both the Bihar government and its police administration BPMA regional president Ram Chandra Pandey and general secretary Arvind Kumar Yadav, in a joint statement yesterday, have said the killing of five policemen in a landmine blast triggered by the left ultras in Chatra district on December 24 had occurred because their members were ill-equipped.
Before their death ``the jawans had lobbed several grenades. But none of them exploded. Even the guns being used by the policemen in this state are obsolete'', they claimed.
Stating that despite numerous talks, petitions and complaints made in this regard earlier, nothing happened ``neither the state government nor its police administration has paid any heed to them''.
During the last Lok Sabhapoll in this state, 40 policemen were killed in extremist violence. Although the state government had made promises interalia to pay a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin to each of the deceased besides a government job to him/her, none of this was fulfilled, the BPMA release said.
