
Kirsten, Kallis lead SA charge

CAPE TOWN, JAN 3: Gary KIRSTEN continued to torment England as South Africa moved into a strong position on the second day of the fourth Test at Newlands on Monday. Kirsten followed up his South African record-equalling 275 in the third Test at Durban with an unbeaten 80 (195b, 294m, 8x4) as South Africa reached 200 for one at the close, just 58 runs short of England's 258 all out.Kirsten and Jacques Kallis (batting 80: 164b, 8x4, 1x6) put on an unbeaten 157 for the second wicket after England had collapsed on a good batting pitch, losing five wickets for 43 runs early this morning.
