HYDERABAD, JAN 12: The working of goverment hospitals in Andhra Pradesh continued to be affected as the indefinite strike by junior doctors entered the eighth day on Wednesday.Emergency operations were attended to, while the out-patients wings in hospitals in the State Capital were affected. Elective surgeries and admissions have been restricted, hospital sources told UNI.
Doctors from various other hospitals and from the neighbouring Ranga Reddy district have been deployed in two major government hospitals in the city to attend to emergency cases, the sources said.
Altogether 40 post-graduate students were pressed into service and senior doctors were working extra hours to overcome the shortage of doctors. The doctors are demanding, among other things, a hike in stipend.
