IES Patkar win under-16 title

MUMBAI, JANUARY 12: IES Chandrakant Patkar, Dombivli, won the MSSA-Colgate inter-school girls under-16 cricket title, defeating St Columba by 44 runs at Azad Maidan on Wednesday. Batting first, IES compiled 141 for seven in the stipulated 25 overs, thanks to a well-made half century by the consistent all-rounder Dipti Desai. Dipti had 11 boundaries in her 54.

Columba could score only 97 for six in reply, Snehal Parab complementing her unbeaten 23 with the bat with a 3-32 performance with the ball.

Brief scores: IES Chandrakant Patkar 141-7 (Dipti Desai 54, Snehal Parab 23 not out, Anuja Devlekar 3-20) bt St Columba 97-6 (Meghana Marathe 21, Snehal Parab 3-32).

Dalvi best
Vilas Dalvi beat second seed Mahendra Tambe 25-5, 25-6 to win the A Rama Nayak Trophy in the seventh District Open Ranking Carrom Tournament.

Police win
Mumbai Police B overwhelmed Thakur College 25-16, 30-28 in the Chandrodaya Club Open Volleyball tournament at Chembur.
