BANGALORE, JANUARY 17: Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda on Monday appealed to the Centre to constitute the Krishna River Valley Authority by an enactment to implement `B' scheme of the Bacchawat Tribunal on sharing of surplus waters and launched an attack on the government for what he termed ``taking the side of Andhra Pradesh for survival.''Gowda told newsmen that he would be undertaking a campaign to create awareness among MPs, and leaders of political parties on the ``injustice meted out to Karnataka'' on the Krishna river water sharing issue and seek their support to protect the state's interests.
Gowda launched a frontal attack on the Vajpayee government for filing an affidavit in November last, contradicting the averments of the government maintained during 1996, accusing it of ``sowing the seeds that would threaten the unity of the country and shake its federal structure.''
Gowda released a booklet prepared by him to help people get an overall view of the ``Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal''award, and government's recent ``reversal of stand to help its coalition ally, the ruling Telugu Desam in AP."
