National nutrition mission on the cards

CALCUTTA, JANUARY 19: India will soon launch a three-pronged national nutrition mission to check high levels of malnutrition among children and women in the country, joint secretary to the Union Department of Women and Child Development Veena S Rao said here on Tuesday. ``We have finalised the draft and will soon beimplementing the mission, the first ever such programme being taken up in the country,'' she said.

Rao was addressing a regional advocacy workshop on nutrition . The mission will provide a holistic approach to chalk out effective solutions in the areas of infant mortality, mortality under five and maternal mortality.Agencies
