IOC retain title


BANGALORE, JANUARY 19: Chetan Baboor beat Arup Basak of HPCL in the fourth tie to lead Indian Oil Corporation Limited to the men's team championship title in the PSCB inter-unit table tennis tournament at the KGS Club on Wednesday.

In the women's section, Oil India Ltd emerged top of the league, beating defending champions BPCL 3-0.

Results: Men (finals): IOC 3 (C Baboor bt S Sriram 21-14, 21-18; S Raman bt A Basak 21-15, 18-21, 21-14; C Baboor bt A Basak 20-22, 21-17, 21-18) bt HPCL 1 (S Ramaswamy bt A Dutta 19-21, 21-17, 21-18). Semifinals: HPCL bt IPCL 3-0; IOC bt OIL 3-0. For 3rd Place: OIL bt IPCL 3-0. Quarterfinals: IPCL bt BPCL 3-0; OIL bt ONGC 3-0.

Women: (League): IOC BT ONGC 3-0 (A Radhika bt Anjana Bora 21-4, 21-10; NR Indu bt Bandana Bora 21-9, 21-15; Niyoti Shah bt Padmini Kumar 21-4, 21-9). OIL bt BPCL 3-0 (Mouma Das bt Poulomi Ghatak 21-12, 21-19; Montu Ghosh bt S Mythili 21-19, 21-18; JB Thakkur bt B Bubaneswari 21-1, 21-1).
