BANGALORE, JAN 22: Viktor Bruthans of Slovakia met his match in Kobi Ziv on Saturday. The Israeli, as a premature birthday gift, got the Wearhouse-Century Club ITF Futures men's tennis title.Ziv, who turns 21 on Tuesday, defeated the Slovakian 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) before Bruthans could enact a repeat of his earlier performances. And with it, Ziv earned $ 1300 (approximately Rs 55,627) before he plays the Chennai leg of the $ 10,000 tournament which begins on Monday.
Bruthans took the runner-up purse of $ 900 (approximately Rs 38,511).A little later, the Israelis had more to celebrate as Andy Ram and Nir Welgreen won the doubles title.
They defeated the Pakistan-Great Britain combine of Aisam Qureshi and Miles Macalagan 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 in 92 minutes.
Meanwhile, Prahlad Srinath has pulled out of the third and the final leg at Chennai, the main draw of which will commence at the Nungambakkam Stadium on January 24, due to an elbow injury.
