Traders resent non-inclusion in pre-budget meet
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
NEW DELHI, JAN 23: The Confederation of All India Traders, an apex body of trade association and federations, today deplored the government keeping the trading community out of the pre-budget discussions held recently by Union Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha."On one hand, the government invited industrialists, financial institutions, trade unions, economists, scientists and even consumer bodies but on the other, the trading community forming 70 per cent of the Indian economy could not find a place in the list of invitees by the Finance Minister," confederation secretary general Praveen Khandelwal said in a memorandum to the Finance Ministry. "Non-invitation has undermined the co-operation by traders of the country," he said.
