Exports rise by 12.93 per cent
NEW DELHI, FEBRUARY 1: India's exports rose smartly in the first nine months of the fiscal year ending in March, thanks to a pick-up in global trade volumes, analysts said on Tuesday after the release of government data. The official figures showed that merchandise exports rose by 12.93 per cent to $27.42 billion in the nine months to end-December. However, the import growth lagged, reinforcing some analysts' views that the country's economic recovery is not yet broad-based, and can be linked to a rise in capacity utilisation on higher domestic consumption.
