Mumbai becoming ISI's nerve-centre -- Gadkari
PRADIP KUMAR MAITRA

NAGPUR, FEBRUARY 2: Mumbai has become the nerve centre of Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) activity in the country, thanks to the liberal attitude of the Democratic Front (DF), alleged the leader of the Opposition in the State Legislative Council, Nitin Gadkari.

Gadkari charged that several suspected ISI agents, who are under the police scrutiny, were enjoying an easy access to Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, who also holds the sensitive Home portfolio.

The Opposition leader claimed that the present government was trying to bail out the conspirators of Mumbai bomb blasts, ostensibly to cash in on `Muslim' vote bank.

"Morale of anti-nationals has got a boost in the wake of liberal approach of the new government which is dangerous for the security of the country," he said and sought an immediate intervention by the Union Home minister, L K Advani.

Gadkari said that he would write to Advani shortly and urge him to engage IB and CBI for keeping a constant vigilance on the activities ofsuch elements in Maharashtra to ensure the security of the country.

The trend is quite alarming in the wake of the fact that planning of hijacking of Indian Airlines aircraft was made at Mumbai by ISI agents, he pointed out and described the happenings as `calm before storm.'

The senior BJP leader claimed that his allegations were based on the information passed on by some senior police officers in the state. "I am ready to produce the relevant evidences in this regard," he asserted.
