Churchill held to 1-1 draw by securitymen
KULDIP BHATIA

LUDHIANA, FEB 2: Churchill Brothers (Goa) drew 1-1 with Border Security Force (Jalandhar) in a National Football League encounter at Guru Nanak Stadium on Wednesday.

Churchill surged ahead in 64th minute through Somatai Shaiza while the securitymen equalised off a penalty hit taken by Satinder Singh in the 75th minute amid Churchill protests.

President of Churchill Brothers Jaoquim Alemao, who also heads the Goan Football Association, spoke to chairman of the organising committee Alberto Colaco and lodged a protest against the officiating while match was in progress.

Alemao charged a conspiracy had been hatched to favour Mohun Bagan at the cost of other participating teams. He said when a set of three referees was already here to conduct matches, it was logical for them to complete all assignments before returning home. But a new set of umpires were sent for Wednesday's match which reeked of conspiracy on the part of All-India Football Federation (AIFF) and the organising committee, Alemaoadded.

Dharamjit strikes

MARGAO: Dharamjit Singh struck once in each half to help defending champions Salgaocar beat East Bengal 2-1, reports PTI.

Dharamjit (31st minute) netted first and with one minute left for the final whistle, he was again on target when he shot home off a square pass from Azamat Abduraimov.

East Bengal found their lone goal in the 49th minute with Willy Brown's 20-yard shot.
