Pak `blackmailing' of India criticised
MOSCOW, FEBRUARY 8: The Russian media has flayed the Pakistan military regime for brandishing its nuclear weapons and trying to ``blackmail'' India, thereby creating a dangerous situation in East Africa and Central Asia. Voice of Russia, in its commentary, said Pakistan was the only nation which talked in terms of language with India, forgetting that Islamabad was no match to India's military prowess. It observed that the Nawaz Sharif government had taken a moderate stance on Islamabad's relations with India after the Kargil war, which the military could not forgive and so it had overthrown the government in a coup and General Pervez Musharraf had taken over. It also referred to Pakistan's armed forces being involved in overt and covert activities in Jammu and Kashmir. Copyright © 2000 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
