Paes falls at Duty Free
UNITED NEWS OF INDIA

DUBAI, FEBRUARY 8: India No 1 Leander Paes crashed out of the Duty Free Dubai Open, losing 0-6, 6-4, 3-6 to Fernando Vicente (Spain) on Tuesday.

The Indian, who was a wild card entry, started on a sluggish note and lost the first set easily.

Paes, who piloted India into the second round of the Davis Cup in the Asia Oceania Group 1 only two days ago, tightened up his game in the second set and came back from a 0-2 deficit to take the set 6-4.

In the third set, Paes doublefaulted when he was in command of the situation and lost 3-6.

He said later: ``I have just come from the grass where the conditions are very different and it takes a little time getting used to new conditions''.

Paes will team up with Ecuador's Nicolas Lapentti in the doubles on Wednesday.
