BSB begin with draw against Delhi

MUMBAI, FEB 8: National champions and hot favourites for the crown, Banks Sports Board (BSB) made an unimpressive start to their campaign in the South Kanara Sports Club all-India kabaddi tournament which got under way at the Bharatiya Kreeda Mandir, Wadala, on Tuesday.

BSB just about managed a 8-8 draw with the super-fit Delhi squad consisting of players from the Central Reserve Police Force. Both the teams pocketed a point each in this Group `A'league encounter.

Maharashtra trounced Hyderabad 65-29 in Group `B'. In the women's section, Nashik trounced Vidarbha 61-22.

Results
Men (Group A):
BSB drew Delhi 8-8, Indian Air Force bt Vidarbha 40-10; (Group B): Maharashtra bt Hyderabad 65-29, Services bt Rajasthan 42-22, Haryana bt Maharashtra 32-26.
Women (Group A): Nashik bt Vidarbha 61-22, Mumbai Upanagar bt Hyderabad 70-30; Mumbai Upanagar bt Nashik 51-33, Thane bt Vidarbha 34-28; (Group B): Pune bt Haryana 30-25.

Rallis rally to down Muslims
Rallis SCdefeated Bombay Muslims 1-0 in a first division Western India Football Association match at the Cooperage with Vivek Oberai scoring the all-important goal.

Santa Maria and Ryan International B drew 1-1 in a Division III match. Nevil Krishnaswamy and Pinot Ronald were the respective scorers.

Shivas Nath champ
Shivas Nath claimed the Bombay Presidency Golf Club (BPGC) Republic Day Trophy when he won the 36-hole strokeplay at the par-70 BPGC course.

Shivas Nath (153-77, 74), Nohar Nath (153-75, 78), Rohit Goyal (153-74, 79).

CK Patel Memorial Cup (18-hole team event against bogey): Gurbir Bhurjee, Jyoti Malhotra (plus-9); Brijender Singh, Neeru Singh (plus-8).

Ordnance Factory win
Ordnance Factory beat BEST 1-0 in aBombay Hockey Association Division III match at Mahindra Stadium. Mohan Hajarnis scored in the third minute.
