WA to focus oncommodity trade
MUMBAI, FEB 9: Commodity exports will remain important trade items between Western Australia (WA) and India but future growth will increasingly include exchanges of services, technologies and manufactured goods, WA deputy premier and minister for commerce and trade Henry Cowan said on Wednesday. Cowan is leading a 19-member delegation to strengthen trade and investment links between India and WA. The mission will host seminars in Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi and is the largest trade mission from WA to India to date and will hold discussions and conferences with private companies during its five-day visit to India. Two-way trade between India and WA was at $AUS 475 million last year - a 40% growth since 1996. Exports from India to WA have primarily been cotton yarn and footware for the past decade.
