EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

DEHRADUN, FEB 9: The Dehradun Police have arrested two persons for allegedly possessing fake currency notes. The duo had reportedly tried to buy charas worth more than Rs one lakh from some drug peddlers in Chakrata region of Dehradun district.

According to police officials, Bhagat Ram and Manoj had gone to a remote village in Chakrata sub-division to buy charas. On receiving the drug consignment, Bhagat Ram gave the money to the drug dealers, but on realising that fake currency had been given to them, the dealers attacked the duo, who tried to flee the village.

While Manoj was caught by the villagers, Bhagat Ram managed to escape. Fake currency worth Rs 19,300 in Rs 100 denomination was found from him. He confessed that Bhagat Ram also possessed fake currency notes of Rs 500 denomination.
