Sebi official alleges harassment
UNITED NEWS OF INDIA

MUMBAI, FEB 10: A suspended officer of the market regulator the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) today threatened to launch a fast unto death if the regulatory body did not complete pending inquiry against him immediately.

GS Reddy, a suspended division chief of the SEBI, said here today that he has been under suspension for the last four years due to alleged misuse of official position by him and non payment of a hotel bill of meagre Rs 5,000.

The Sebi has appointed inquiry against him in 1997 and had appointed inquiry officer D N Rawal for the purpose. But the inquiry officer has not completed the inquiry till date, forcing him out of job for last three years, Reddy alleged.

A Sebi officer said the Sebi has already sent a letter to him and assured him that the pending inquiry will be completed very soon.
