Positive sound

FEBRUARY 10: Music seems to be just the antidote for city dwellers.Designed keeping in mind the hectic, stressful life most lead, a burst of positive energy not only has a calming effect on the tired mind but even makes one feel positively enthusiastic and energetic.

Sentiments shared by both Banyan Tree's Mahesh Babu and Pandit Shivkumar Sharma leading to the Positive Energy Music show. "The soothing power of music, specially Indian Classical music, is common knowledge. However, one has to be careful as to the treatment you give to these all-powerful seven notes. The same set of seven musical notes if treated careless can create sounds which can result in an evening of jarring noise in the name of music. But when treated in a certain manner, the result is music that is not only calming and relaxing but also rejuvenating, with positive energy and impact," said the maestro.

Without compromising on the basics, Positive Energy Music will present thematic pieces which will create different images and colourswith a combination of instruments like the Ghatam and Spanish Guitar. Among those accompanying Pt Shivkumar Sharma are his son Rahul Sharma, Vikku Vinayakram on the Ghatam and Ustad Shafaat Ahmed Khan on the Tabla. A Banyan Tree presentation, this concert promises to be a perfect way to spend the weekend. At the Shanmukhananda Auditorium, Matunga. On Feb 13. Time: 6.30 pm.
