Soul Stirring

World-famous slide guitarist Jeremy Spencer, of Fleetwood Mac fame, talks to Mumbai Newsline:

On Fleetwood Mac:
I joined the group when it started in August, 1967. We went on to become one of Britain's leading Blues band with many number one hits like `Albatross' and `Gypsy' to name some. I left the band in 1971, because I felt the need to move on and to get a different perspective on life.

On India:
This is my third visit to India. I was here earlier in 1995 and 1998. The Indian audiences are very receptive. They understand the kind of music I play -- they have depth and go beyond the surface. It is this response that keeps me coming back.

On his concert:
I will be playing lots of blues-based stuff, mainly my own compositions.

On his personal favourites:
Mark Knopfler of Dire straits, Celine Dion and of course, Cliff Richard.

On his future plans:
There are no concrete plans for the future. One goes along and if a door opens...

On his ultimate dream in music:
An album with B.B.King, perhaps. It's a pipe dream ...
At Rang Bhavan. On Febr 19. Time: 7.30 pm.
