Bigger prize money adds attraction to Poonawala Million
Aryan

The Famous Grouse presents the Poonawalla Breeders' Multimillion in the new avatar of the most exciting event of the Indian racing calendar. The title of the race itself, which brings together two brand names, both monumental in their respective fields, is enough indication of the grandeur of this event. To be run at the Mahalaxmi Race course on Sunday, the hiked up prize money for this race and the exciting incentives on offer for the diehard and average race-goer has already ignited a passion that has rarely been seen in recent times.

Since its inception in 1990, the status and popularity of this race has grown in direct proportion to the efforts put in by the Poonwalla family and it was only a matter of time before other big players would seek to become a part of this project. The opportunity came through Procam International, a sports and leisure management company of repute, who sought an alliance for their mega brand.

The Famous Grouse, a flagship brand of the Highland Distilleries stable from Scotland. A partnership was forged and the Poonawalla family, along with Procam International is committed to making this an unforgettable event.

The stakes are high and the competition will be stiff, as the participation of the best juvenile horses as well as champion jockeys is ensured. With high cash incentives up to sixth place, it will surely turn not to be a cracker. The winner stands to gain R 41,01,000, followed by Rs 13,67,000, Rs 6,83,500, Rs 3,41,750, Rs 2,05,050 and Rs 1,36,700.

There is also the brought forward jackpot of Rs 8.38 lakh and the brought forward super jackpot of Rs 3.67 lakh. There are three attractive prizes linked to the jackpot. The two best turned out ladies, in western and ethnic attire, will also receive attractive prizes. There will be free entry to the first 5,000 entrants into the first enclosure, while all ladies in the first enclosure will also be permitted free entry.

The first 1000 guests of members will get free entry, badges and tickets into the members' enclosure, and all lady guests of members will get free entry.

The free contest of skill, where the participant has to nominate the first four horses in the correct finishing order, will get a WagonR, Maruti's new automobile. The other sponsors of this mega event will be Four Square Gold and the Star Movies network, who will promote and telecast a one-hour capsule of the event.
