India wins back confidence of investors -- Report
WASHINGTON, FEBRUARY 19: India's latest economic policies which lay emphasis on speeding up reforms have raised investors' confidence, a leading financial daily in the US has said. "An effervescent computer software industry, an upswing in traditional business cycles and a stable government... are rekindling confidence among foreign investors, long a disappointed lot here," the Wall Street Journal reported. It, however, said that many hurdles still remained for the investors, including "thorny structural reforms" but added that the country had the best opportunity for "dismantling the socialist structure" after the adoption of free market policies. The investors are now keen on tapping the country's technical skills unlike in the past when they focussed on its consumers, the daily said. "Unlike the last bout of Indian fever, which was doused by an elusive middle class, foreign investors are not pinning their hopes on Indian consumers.
