MUMBAI, FEB 19: Eight members of an armed gang were apprehended when they tried to loot a businessman at Dongri on Friday afternoon.

Acting on a tip-off, the Dongri police laid a trap opposite Bank of India near Main Gate Restaurant located on P D'Mello Road to nab the culprits. The trap paid off and at around 1 pm nine suspects were seen in the area. The police succeeded in apprehending eight of them, the ninth member managed to slip away. A search revealed that they were carrying two country-made revolvers, five live rounds and four choppers.

Police suspect that the gangsters are members of the Khatta Shekar or Bala Kirve gang, which is active in South Mumbai.
