Pak fires at Observation Post in Sriganganagar sector
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

SRIGANGANAGAR, FEB 22: Pakistan troops today opened unprovoked fire at an Observation Post (OP) in Karanpur area of Sriganganagar sector in Rajasthan, but no casualties were reported, Border Security Forces (BSF) said.

Indian jawans returned the fire, BSF Inspector General (Gujarat and Rajasthan borders) B Singh said over the telephone from its Jodhpur headquarters.

On Saturday, one person was killed when Pakistani rangers had opened fire at Sherpur checkpost in Samrana area of Bikaner Sector, the IG said.

Immediately after today's firing, military officials from both sides held a flag meeting and decided to stop firing, Singh said, and added, ``After that, nothing is alarming till this evening.''

When asked why the Pakistani rangers were indulging in unprovoked firing, the IG said ground rules are not being implemented first by the neighbouring country and so, India had to fire in retaliation.
