VLCC centre at Marine Drive in Mumbai

MUMBAI, FEBRUARY 27: The third branch of the well-known VLCC chain of slimming centres was inaugurated in the city on Friday by several stars of the film industry.

The centre is located at Marine Drive and is expected to cater to corporate clients as well as residents of the neighbourhood. The centre provides latest techniques for slimming down and uses methods of counselling as well as diet control for reducing weight of up to five kgs a month, according to Vandana Luthra, who started this chain of centres.

She revealed that they have also taken senior doctors on their panel so that even difficult cases of obesity can be tackled by their weight loss program. Even after the member has lost weight, he is counselled on how to maintain the present weight, she pointed out.

VLCC already has 23 centres across the country and this number is expected to reach 50 by the end of this year, Luthra said. The VLCC also has a social programme in which they organise various health check-ups at their centres and invite the general public, Luthra said. In Mumbai, as many police personnel are suffering from various illnesses due to obesity, the VLCC has offered its weight loss programme at half rate for them, she revealed.
