Film personalities seek security
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

MUMBAI, FEBRUARY 27: Close on the heels of the attack on film producer Rakesh Roshan, 16 film personalities have been provided police security round-the-clock even as 32 applications have been received by the arms branch of the police commissionerate for weapons licences.

Some of the film personalities already holding licences have urged for more weapons as threats by the underworld seem to have ``focussed'' on the film industry, police sources said.

Among those who have been provided security guards are Lata Mangeshkar, Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar, Govinda, Vinod Khanna, Shatrughan Sinha, Subhash Ghai, J P Dutta, B R Chopra, Yash Johar, Manmohan Shetty, Bharat Shah and Shekhar Suman. The security to the film personalities follows the assurance given by Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal to a delegation of the industry which met him soon after the assault on Roshan last month, sources said.
