Deshmukh asks DF constituents to behave responsibly
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

PUNE, FEB 27: Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh on Sunday said the constituents of the Democratic Front supporting the Maharashtra Government "should behave more responsibly and be circumspect in their utterances."

Talking to newsmen, Deshmukh was alluding to the comments reportedly made by the NCP leader Sharad Pawar that the state exchequer was in doldrums and that he (Pawar) was not interested in remaining in the Government which cannot provide enough money to buy food for children living in Ashram schools.

Deshmukh said the Congress and the NCP came together to form government at the state "not out of choice but out of sheer compulsion" and hence members of both parties should be careful in what they speak in public.

He said the work on the mega project of Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation (MKVDC) will be done within the stipulated time and the Government will ensure that there was no resource crunch. He said rehabilitation works were also going on at good pace.

Deshmukh said, to fill the backlog of Konkan Development an independent programme will be chalked out after a Cabinet meeting, which will be convened in Ratnagiri district soon.

He said the Government was also doing its best to solve the drinking water problems in rural areas.
