Express reporter threatened
Express News Service

Mumbai, March 8: Newsline had on March 7 written how the malfunctioning of the gamma counter, used for measuring thyroid levels in patients, was brought to the notice of hospital authorities by the consultant in nuclear medicine, Dr G N Mahapatra. However, the administration shunted Dr Mahapatra out of the hospital after making allegations against him.

Following publication of the report, the concerned reporter was today called to the hospital by Dushyant Mehta, the hospital pharmacist, to give the ``correct facts'' about the matter and show the gamma counter. When he showed wrong documents to the reporter and the latter objected to it, Mehta started abusing and threatening him. Mehta then called one of the security staff and asked him to throw the reporter out of the hospital.

When this incident was brought to the notice of the executive vice-president of Lilavati Hospital, Dr V R Bhimani, he apologised and suggested this be told to Vijay Mehta, chairman of the hospital.
