CBI has wealth case against Laloo, Rabri
ARUN SRIVASTAVA

PATNA, MARCH 8: The CBI on Wednesday approached Governor Vinod Chandra Paney to grant sanction for filing of charge sheet and prosecution of RJD chief Laloo Prasad Yadav and Rabri Dev in disproportionate assets case RC 5a.

Sources said senior CBI officials submitted papers in this regard to the Governor on Wednesday. It is mentioned that Laloo, using his official office and power, amassed huge wealth disproportionate to his actual earnings.

The CBI claims that Laloo owns property worth nearly Rs 50 lakh, which is beyond his known income. For Laloo, the move comes at a time when he has been busy trying to pull down the NDA Government. While he and his ally, the Congress has been trying to play down the issue of corruption, this move will create complications for him.

Meanwhile, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sushil Mody has requested the Governor to expedite giving of sanction. He requested Pandey to go through the documents which clearly reveal that Laloo has usurped money.
