BJP corporator held for producing false caste certificate
PRESS TRUST INDIA

NASHIK, MARCH 19: Police arrested a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporator on Saturday for allegedly producing a false caste certificate during Municipal Corporation's general elections.

The accused, Ramchandra Paradeshi, BJP's Nashik Municipal Corporator from Ward No 33 was, however, later released on bail by Judicial Magistrate P K Multaikare.

Police said Paradeshi had produced a false caste certificate of `Mahadev Hindu Koli' and got elected, defeating Congress candidate Manjula Vale, who filed a complaint with caste certificate examining committee.

A thorough inquiry proved the certificated to be false and Ministry of Urban Development, Mumbai, on February 23 issued an order to NMC commissioner Sujata Sounik to initiate proper action, including filing a criminal complaint against him. But no action ws taken against him till Thursday.

Paradeshi was arrested under Sections 420, 468 and 471 of IPC, police added.
