Key suspect in Yogeshwari suicide surrenders in Delhi
NAGPUR, MARCH 30: Prakash Kumar Singh, one of the key suspects in the sensational suicide case involving a polytechnic student who jumped down to death from a bachelor's den at Laxmi Nagar, surrendered before the Delhi Police recently. Singh was subsequently brought to Nagpur by the city police. The suicide had occurred at Panchayatan Apartments, Laxmi Nagar when Yogeshwari Motghare, a second year polytechnic student jumped from the fourth floor flat which was occupied by some engineering students. Yogeshwari's sudden decision to end his life had puzzled the city police and they suspected the occupants of the flat. Y Satyaprakash Mohanlal, an engineering student and classmate of Yogeshwari, was immediately rounded up and interrogated. Another occupant was Prakash Kumar Singh, who was witness to the act. However, he was absconding since the incident and surrendered before the Delhi police recently. The Ranapratap Nagar police sent teams to Singh's native Darbangha district in Bihar several times, but each time the teams returned empty-handed. Prakash Singh's arrest was crucial towards solving the case. In the preliminary interrogation by police, Singh is reported to have confessed to molesting Yogeshwari in the presence of Y Satyaprakash. Police officials feel that this may be the reason behind Yogeshwari's sudden decision to end his life. Copyright © 2000 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
