UNITED NEWS OF INDIA

Chalakkudy, March 30: The winners led by three goals in the first session. VK Mishra, Amar Bahadur Thapa, Johnny Gengmei and Sajith Kumar contributed goals for the armymen.

Midway through the first session the armymen got into their act and once they started firing it was unstoppable for Manipur which caved in thrice.

It was Manipur who started the proceedings and dominated the first 10 minutes. The first scoring chance came in the fourth minute itself but mid-fielder, Manglem Jao Singh's full volley front left safely landed to Anil Kumar, the Army custodian.

Four minutes later, Services' attempt was defused by Manipur custodian.

Manipur could have scored in the 19th minute. But the golden opportunity was squandered by striker T Narendrakumar who, instead of placing at the empty post from a hand shaking distance, shot wide.
