Insat series of satellites had given a boost to telecommunications, television and radio broadcast in the country, Bhandari said while inaugurating a symposium on Emerging Wireless Communication Technologies and Systems, organised by the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers.

Recent developments in communication technologies have opened up new opportunities and challenges. Wireless data technologies will prove to be one of the most influential technologies in the year 2000, Bhandari said.
