BJP lashes out at Sonia for demanding Advani, Joshi's resignation
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

NEW DELHI, APRIL 8: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday hit out at Congress president Sonia Gandhi for demanding resignation of Union Ministers L K Advani and M M Joshi for their alleged involvement in the Ayodhya case saying this cannot be compared with the chargesheet filed against Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Laloo Prasad Yadav and his wife, Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi.

"Corruption charges against Laloo Yadav and Rabri Devi are different from the political cases against Advani and Joshi and, hence, there was no ground to demand resignation of the two ministers," party vice-president J P Mathur told reporters here.

"I may sound harsh but I regret that Sonia Gandhi has adopted politics of the level of Laloo and Rabri. There is a sea of difference between cases against Advani and Joshi and that of Rabri and Laloo. Rabri has no moral right to continue in office following corruption charges against her," he said.

Mathur said said no other leader of Congress had so far supported Gandhi's stand, adding in fact, even leaders like Rajesh Pilot had sought the resignation of Rabri Devi but had made no mention of Advani or Joshi.

"Even though there may be no legal ground for Rabri Devito resign, but on moral grounds she should step down from office," he said.
