Split in NCP? Uddhav Thackarey meets Advani
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

NEW DELHI, APRIL 25: In a significant development which could have a bearing on politics in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray had a meeting with Home Minister L K Advani today.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pramod Mahajan, who is a senior BJP leader from the State, was also present at the brief meeting.

BJP sources said the main agenda at the discussion was Maharashtra politics but declined to give any details.

The meeting has come in the backdrop of reports indicating an imminent split in the Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party in the State, which is a major partner in the ruling Congress-led coalition.

Shiv Sena leaders including its supremo Bal Thackeray had given several deadlines in the recent past predicting the collapse of the Congress-NCP coalition.

The visit here of Uddhav, who is the son of the Sena supremo, has come a week after Sena leaders Anant Gite and Sanjay Nirupam struck a discordant note on the way decisions are taken by the Vajpayee Government.

Last week, the Sena questioned the policies of the NDA government regarding rollback of subsidies and other vital questions in the Parliament.
