Kid consumes kerosene, dies
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

NAGPUR, APRIL 27: In a tragic incident, a one-and-half-year old kid, who was left alone in the house by his mother, died of poisoning on Tuesday, after he accidentally consumed kerosene from a lamp lying in the house.

Shubham Lakhan Chouhan fell unconscious soon after consuming kerosene and breathed his last at the government hospital hours after he was admitted there. Shubham, it is learnt, was left alone in the house at Shivaji Nagar in east Nagpur by his mother Kalpana, who left the home to do some household work after locking the house.

When Kalpana returned home and opened the door, she found Shubham lying on the floor in an unconscious state, and was frothing from mouth. A kerosene lamp was lying beside him. Kalpana summoned people from the neighbourhood and rushed Shubham to the Government Medical College for treatment.

Shubham breathed his last two hours later. Shubham's father Lakshman is a rickshaw-puller while his mother Kalpana performs household jobs at neighbouring homes.
